Do you print catalogs and are you a print shop?
No — we’re not a print shop, but we work closely with several trusted print partners to bring your catalog to life. From press checks and color correction to fulfillment, we can handle every step of the process end-to-end. Or, if you already have a preferred printer, we’re happy to collaborate directly with them to ensure a smooth and professional production experience.
What information is needed before starting catalog production?
To get started smoothly, you’ll want to pull together your product data, images, any existing copy and your brand assets. Your project manager will work with you to complete an onboarding checklist. The more information you have from the beginning, the faster we can dive into design.
How long does a catalog project typically take?
Every project moves through a few key stages:
- Collecting content
- Determining a format and design style
- Building out each section, including TOC, product pages and index
- Reviewing and gathering feedback
- Making revisions
- Final proof and copyedit
- Sending it off to print or launching it digitally
Smaller and medium-sized catalogs (~12-125 pages) typically take 6-8 weeks. Larger catalogs 125+ pages) will take several months. You and your project manager will
We’ll help you set deadlines and keep things moving at a steady pace.
What software tools do you use?
We use the Adobe Suite of programs.
How do our teams coordinate and collaborate?
Good communication is everything. During onboarding, we’ll help set up clear points of contact, define who reviews what and make sure everyone knows the process from the start.
How are drafts and revisions managed?
We share mockups in clearly structured rounds, making it easy for your team to review and provide feedback. For larger catalogs, we break the project into sections. allowing individual product managers or stakeholders to review only the parts relevant to them. This keeps the process organized, efficient and moving forward smoothly. Most clients choose to provide feedback using markup tools in Adobe Acrobat.
What is involved in quality assurance?
Our in-house proofreader reviews your catalog after every round of revisions. If your catalog is going to print, our creative team will coordinate on-site press checks or review printer proofs at our office and make adjustments as necessary.
What’s the process for updating or reprinting catalogs?
Please contact your project manager for updates or reprints.
What information should be included for each product?
At a minimum: name, description, specs, images, SKUs, pricing, availability and any key features. This information is typically provided in an Excel document or PIM system. If you need support with product descriptions, section headers or marketing copy throughout your catalog, our team can provide copywriting assistance.
How should the catalog be visually organized?
We build layouts using clean grids, clear product hierarchy and intuitive design so your catalog is easy to browse. There are a few different approaches to product page design. We will review options with you during onboarding.
Can you work within my existing brand guidelines?
Yes! Our clients range from 1) large healthcare organizations with entire internal brand teams and strict guidelines to 2) smaller companies who need help determining a design direction. If you have an internal brand approval process, we are happy to work alongside you to ensure brand consistency and alignment.
Can you use my existing product photography?
Definitely, as long as the images are high enough quality. If you need new shots, we’ve got an in-house studio and team ready to go.
I need photography. Can you help?
Yes. We can help with both product and lifestyle photography.
- Product photography: Either on white or on a styled background. Product photography can be taken at our studio. In some circumstances, it’s necessary to capture product photography on-location (for example, very large or heavy products that aren’t easy to ship).
- Lifestyle photography: Show your products in-use in our studio or on-location. We work with several talent agencies if models are needed. Our in-house studio can be staged as an apartment, living room, bedroom, patient room or other indoor space.
How much does a catalog cost?
Most projects range from $200-$250 per page for design, layout and proofing. Cost per page typically decreases as page count increases. Additional costs may apply for product photography, copywriting, translation or illustration, depending on your needs. We’ll provide a detailed quote once we understand the full scope.
Do you use a template or create a custom design for my catalog?
We create every catalog from scratch! No templates here. Custom design means your layout fits your content, your brand and your goals.
How can the catalog’s effectiveness be measured and improved?
There are a few smart ways to track performance from monitoring sales and customer feedback to using tools like call tracking numbers, dynamic QR codes or dedicated landing pages. If you're producing a digital version, web traffic and engagement metrics offer even more insight.
Interested in building out a larger campaign?
We can walk through options during onboarding and build the right strategy from the start.
